Mazel Tov Barack Obama!
I was ready to call the election before CNN did on November 6 at 11:18 pm. I'm not a statistics expert, nor am I a polling guru, but my non-scientific gut feeling throughout the campaign - and especially in the last few days - was that the majority of the American people want an inclusive democracy, a participatory democracy when everyone deserves a chance; a society that has compassion for the unemployed, the poor, the disabled, the incarcerated - and they want a government that takes responsibility to lift them out of misery and actively help them to achieve their dreams. I felt it in discussions with voters, in the enthusiasm of volunteers in campaign offices, and in the thousands of comments on various websites. The majority of Americans provided the clearest proof that - against the odds - ordinary Americans can overcome powerful special interests and power-hungry and greedy corporations.
